Faux Kokedama – Orchid
This hanging plant is very fashionable at the moment especially if you are trying to achieve a botanical interior.
‘Kokedama (苔玉, in English, literally “moss ball”) is a ball of soil, covered with moss, on which an ornamental plant grows. The idea has its origins in Japan, where it is a combination of the nearai 根洗い (literally “root wash,” but meaning “no pot”) bonsai and kusamono planting styles.’
The Kokedama for sale here has been handmade with preserved moss and artificial foilage. It is very realistic in appearance.
It needs no care. Just hang and enjoy. A lightweight sticky hook us adequate to hang from the ceiling as the item is very light. If many kokedamas are hung together they collectively are referred to as a ‘string garden’.
The moss ball is approximately 10cm in diameter.
